Detroit Lions to sign the former Cardinals DT Roy Lopez

The Detroit Lions added a piece to their line of defense before the official start of the NFL -free agency.

On Tuesday, several reports showed that the Lions approved a one -year contract with the former nose attack by Arizona Cardinals Roy Lopez. The contract is reportedly 4.65 million US dollars worth 4.65 million dollars.

Lopez played in 63 games with 50 starts in his four NFL season. He entered the league as the selection of the sixth round of the Houston Texans in the draft of 2021 and spent two seasons with the Texans before he ended up in Arizona in the past two years.

In four seasons, Lopez has reached a total of 137 combined duels, 17 duels against losses and three sacks. He had a sack, three passes and four duels for the loss last season. He is a nasal attack and received a 54.9 run defense grade via Pro Football Focus last season.

Lopez had a modest pass-rush production with 18 printing last year. He performed in at least 16 games in three of his four NFL games, with the sole exception in 2023 when he played in 14 games.
