Safety Damar Hamlin returns to bills at one year

The Buffalo Bills re -contracted Damar Hamlin to a one -year extension, the team said on Wednesday.

Hamlin was originally a choice in the sixth round of Bills in 2021 NFL Draft from Pittsburgh and started his career as a backup and special team player. He had the opportunity to start in 2022 due to injuries, starting in 13 games, including a “Monday Night Football” pame in Cincinnati on January 2, 2023.

The 26 -year -old Hamlin experienced a cardiac arrest during the game, but recovered medically released to return to football and met the choice to continue playing. It served as a backup in 2023 when he worked back mentally and physically.

In 2024, Hamlin earned and kept the starting job after the departures of the veterans Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde in the off -season. He started 14 games and did enough to keep the role, including the admission of the first two interceptions of his career.

Hamlin’s effect went far beyond the soccer field. His Jagd -M Foundation received millions from a Gofundme drive after his cardiac arrest. In the years since then, Hamlin, the bills, the NFL and countless others have worked on the persecution of M’s to spread awareness of heart health through the knowledge and use of CPR and AEDs, including new laws and CPR tours.
