The New Jersey Devils faces an additional challenge in their search for the Stanley Cup playoffs and beyond.

Dougie Hamilton, defender of New Jersey, is for the rest of the regular season with an injury that he suffered against the Dallas Stars on March 4.

Hamilton’s recovery period could take in the second round of the playoffs, Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald told Krackin ‘Canuckleheads on Thursday.

After Jack Hughes for the rest of the season and playoffs due to a shoulder injury and BlueLiner Jonas Siegenthaler went forward with an injury to the lower body for at least the rest of the regular season, New Jersey must go forward without Hamilton.

“We turned the page pretty quickly when the injury took place. We just have to continue, ”Devil’s coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters on Thursday.

Hamilton was just one of six Devils players who performed in all 63 games from New Jersey before his injury and missed the following three games. He recorded nine goals and 31 templates for 40 points as well as 89 blocked shots, 74 hits and an average ice age of 19:48.

New Jersey played last season without Hamilton after suffering a torn chest muscle. The Devils finished 10 points from a playoff place, although he took third place in NHL in 2022-23 when Hamilton had 74 points in 82 games.

The Devils recovered this season by currently taking third place in Metropolitan Division, and sixth place in Eastern Conference, but they have had largely problems since December 28th. During this time you have the fourth-school point percentage at 0.446 with a record of 11-14-3. This led to a draw for most points in the NHL on December 27th to 13th.

What helped the Devils to maintain third place in the division is the streaking results of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Although Columbus had a winning streak of four games from February 22nd to March 1st, Columbus previously had a winning streak with four games and three defeats in four games, including on Tuesday against New Jersey.

Since February 1, New Jersey and Columbus have almost been percentaged at points at 0.462 and 0.458.

But a longer route without Hughes, the team’s top scorer before his injury, and defender Hamilton and Siegenthaler will test the depth of the squad when it is most important.

In particular, Luke Hughes in the ice age in Hamilton’s absence is tested on average 22:29. The 21-year-old has a goal and three points in these three games in the top couple with the shutdown D-Man Brett Pesce and on the top power play unit. The 21-year-old Blueelin Simon Nemec also has to show what he can do in his call, but has drawn criticism of his inconsistency and missed tasks from Keefe.

The team also pushed with the newly acquired Center Cody Glass, who plays with the new leading goal scorer Jesper Bratt and Erik Transora. Glass has a goal and two templates for three points, as the Pittsburgh Penguins exchanged him on the Deadline Day. It remains to be seen whether he continues his strong start, but this season he only has 18 points in 53 games, and his career height of 35 points came 2022-23 with the Nashville Predators.

If the overall ranking remains the same, the devils will compete in the first round of Carolina Hurricanes. Both teams are in very few goals against per game and in the middle of the pack for goals per game near the NHL.
