Where and how much snow to expect Friday

A winter storm will fall on the Interstate 70 Mountain Corridor on Friday in Colorado to up to 5 inches of snow, but, according to the National Weather Service forecast, will probably go into the rain via Metro Denver.

The residents of Front Range will probably see precipitation from a “pretty weak” system this evening, said Bruno Rodriguez, a meteorologist of the NWS Boulder office.

Metro Denver can expect showers overnight by Friday with the chance of being mixed in the early morning, but most or any snow accumulation should prevent the mid -1930s.

Weekend warriors who drove into the mountains on Friday could meet 1 to 5 inch snow, said Rodriguez, while people near Castle Rock, Monument Hill and Palmer Divide could see some mushy accumulations.
