FBI provides ransomware attack warning to all Google Mail, Outlook -E -Mail user

The FBI and the US cyber security and infrastructure security authority ask users to search for popular E -Mail services such as Google Mail and Outlook to search for dangerous and potentially costly ransomware scheme.

A bulletin published this week describes a warning for the Medusa Ransomware gang, a group that has been active since 2021.

“While Medusa has been developed to use an affiliate model since then, important operations such as ransom negotiations are still checked centrally,” said the advice. “Both Medusa developers and partners who are referred to as” Medusa actors “in this advisor use a double -formation model in which they encrypt victim data and threaten the publicly approved ex -filtrate data if a ransom is not paid.”

In February 2025, the Ransomware attack influenced more than 300 victims in the areas of medical, education, legal, insurance, technology and manufacturing fields. The group uses phishing campaigns -incorrect e -mails that request users to click links or to provide personal information as well as the exploitation of unpatcher software weak spots. The computer or the information is then used “Geisel” until a ransom is paid.

The FBI and the CISA recommend that all accounts use long, clear passwords. People should also use multifactor authentication for webmail, VPNs and accounts that access critical systems. It is also recommended that all operating systems, software and firmware remain up to date.
