The writer Jack Thorne said that he and co-author Stephen Graham, who also plays in the drama, wanted to examine the problem of the young male anger and what they did in the news after several incidents of violence.

“I want it to be shown in schools. I want it to be shown in Parliament. It is crucial because it only gets worse.

“It is something that people have to talk about, hopefully the drama can do,” said Thorne.

History illuminates the corrosive effects of social media and misogynistic influencers on some boys of teenage age

The show follows the Miller family, whose life is blown apart when the 13-year-old school boy Jamie is arrested because he killed a classmate.

The four -part series has become the most prepared title in Great Britain and in the United States in the first week of its publication.

Its history illuminates some corrosive effects of social media and misogynistic influencers on some young people in teenage.

Thorne said that he had to watch some “dark holes” on the Internet to make the show, but said that these holes were not difficult to find.

“This is a show about a child who does the wrong and causes great damage. To understand him, we have to understand the pressure on him,” he said.

“Jamie was polluted by ideas that he heard online that make sense for him, who have an attractive logic for him, which answers the questions about his loneliness and isolation and prompted him to make some very bad decisions.

“We have to understand the things he consumed, and that means, especially the Internet, the manosphere and the Incel culture,” added Thorne.

Adolescence is the sixth program on which Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham have worked together

Jamie, the young suspect, is played by newcomer Owen Cooper from Warrington with Stephen Graham as his father.

Graham said that he was inspired to make the show after seeing two separate reports from boys, the girls stabbing the girls.

“I read an article in the newspaper about a boy who had killed a young girl, and three weeks later I looked at the news and there was a story of a boy who had stabbed a young girl,” he said about BBC Breakfast.

“It really hurt my heart, I just thought: ‘What’s going on in society where something like this becomes a regular event?’

“I just couldn’t fathom. So I really wanted to take a look at it and try to shed light on this special thing.”

Adolescence is the sixth program on which Graham and Thorne have worked together.

“What Stephen repeated through the process is a village to raise a child. What we started is that a village is needed to destroy a child,” said Thorne.

He said that the show was not inspired by a certain incident, but by a problem that they have seen again and again.

“It could happen to anyone and that doesn’t say that someone is able to be Jamie,” he said.

“It is about parents who have not seen him, a school system that let him down and the ideas he consumed.

“This is an ordinary family and this is an ordinary world and it is really worried, which is currently possible.”
