How can you prevent forest fires in your neighborhood

Sinton, Texas – We have had forest fires with house fires for weeks. According to the Texas Ministry of Insurance, most forest fires near residential areas such as in Sinton take place, in which some houses are completely destroyed by the latest fires.

“I look there and everything you have is gone. I’m looking here and Mr. Baker is still here,” said Calvin Baker.

Baker has lived in East Welder Street for over 30 years. When the fire spread through his neighborhood a few weeks ago, he couldn’t do anything.

“When I retired from my driveway, I could see a fire ball rolling,” said Baker.

The reporter of neighborhood messages, Victoria Balderrama, was there at Baker when First Response evacuated his entire street when they worked on extinguishing the fire.

Only later did he see his house in Kris 6 News.

“The smoke began to clarify and our house comes on TV,” said Baker. “I said Wow.”

Drone material from above Baker’s house shows his house untouched and the four houses next to his property were burned down in the East Welder Street.

Ben Gonzalez from the Texas Insurance Ministry informed Kris 6 forest fires.

“We received many calls for forest fire, not only from the Corpus area, but also from the Pan handle and other areas in which they had big fires,” said Gonzalez.

The Texas Ministry of Insurance recommends creating a reasonable place in your house.

“Make sure that there is nothing to be flammable that stacks against your house. You have no leaf piles or firewood against your house, because if the embers can blow around a nearby fire, these things can caught fire and spread into your house,” said Gonzalez.

Here are other projects in the house to prevent fires from getting through.

– Maintain your roof and gutters
– Remove your cover from rubble.

“I come out and take care of the grass, the trees and the gutters,” said Baker.

Apart from these projects to protect your house. You can also create an action plan. It is a checklist to support the risk of a running fire.
