Eagles may find air more hospitable than ground vs. ravens

PHILADELPHIA – Jalen Hurts attempted at least 30 passes in the first four games of the season. The Eagles went 2-2 in those games.

Since then, since the Eagles’ seven-game winning streak began, the quarterback has attempted 28 passes. That’s no surprise. That’s when the Saquon Barkley Show opened in South Philly.

The Ravens will look to close the show when the teams play in Baltimore on Sunday, and they have the horses to do it. They are number one in the league, allowing just 77 yards on the ground per game.

“It all comes down to execution,” right tackle Lane Johnson said. “I think when you look at these games it’s always competitive, but I think the most important thing is staying consistent with the combo blocks and really when you get on the defenders, not losing your base and on them to stay, so we have a running back.” can do special things with the ball. So, you know, I think what he can do pushes us to do better, to be better.

“We are humble. We go into the game willing, but we know it’s a different style of defense. I think if you just look at the bodies you can see that there are some big bodies in the front. Do a good job of coming long and dropping blocks.”

The Eagles counter with the league’s top-ranked rushing offense, putting up a whopping 193 yards per game and had 150 yards with two rushing touchdowns in six straight games, tying the franchise record set by the Eagles’ 1949 NFL Championship team.

This will be power against power.

“I see that they have big, physical guys up front, but they do a good job of playing with two gaps and losing them,” AJ Brown said. “I feel like the linebackers play pretty tight to the line of scrimmage compared to other teams and do a good job of setting up the fence.”

This could lead to the Eagles going a little off script and letting Hurts throw more.

Despite the lack of passing attempts, Brown still found a way to haul in 39 receptions for a team-high 727 yards, even after missing three games early in the season with a hamstring injury.

DeVonta Smith, who missed last week’s win over the Rams with a hamstring injury, was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Rookie receiver Johnny Wilson was also listed as questionable due to hamstring issues.

Despite missing two games so far this season, Smith still leads the team with 41 catches. He has 516 yards and is tied with Brown for the most touchdowns with four. Smith spoke to reporters on Friday and said he would have to wait and see what the coaches thought about his availability on Sunday.

Hurts was also a key part of the Eagles’ rushing attack. He has 115 rush attempts versus 295 pass attempts.

When asked if it was strange that both totals were so close, he replied: “It’s not strange at all. Look at what our record is.”

That would be 9-2.

Asked on Sunday if he was looking forward to achieving more, he replied: “I’m looking forward to winning and doing whatever it takes to get there.”
