Other prominent democrats can also enter the race. The Senator Jason Esteves and the former managing director of DEKALB, Michael Thurmond, took steps towards a possible run. Jason Carter, the party candidate of the 2014 party candidate, is also in the mix. And Stacey Abrams has not excluded a third campaign.

On the Republican side, Attorney General Chris Carr joined the race in November. And Lt. Governor Burt Jones, a close ally of Trump, will soon announce his campaign for the succession of a temporary Kemp.

Bottoms have a high name detection in Metro Atlanta, where the majority of the state’s democratic voters live. And she won an office with the resounding support of black women, the most important and most loyal constituency in her party.

But Bottoms would have to explain her surprise decision in 2021 in order to look for a second term as a mayor who contributed weeks after the start of her re -election offer at Biden.

During her tenure, she was also advanced by some Atlantans to increase violent crimes, which contributed to recharge your batteries in two parts.

A former city councilor, Bottoms won an overcrowded 11-candidate race for Atlantas Top-Job in 2017 with the promise to bring more transparency and stricter ethics to the town hall after a long-term examination of the federal bribing.

Bottoms announced the work of her administration on social justice and affordable housing issues. Months after their term, the town hall was hit with a massive cyber attack, while a corruption examination of the members of the government of the former mayor Kasim Reed was widened.

Her term of office was quickly redesigned by the Covid 19 pandemic and the widespread protests against racism and police brutality, and it was bitterly found with Trump and Kemp about Coronavirus restrictions and public security measures.

Bottoms, who has already hired employees and opened a PAC snack, has previously announced the AJC that it would work to expand the Medicaid program, increase the state’s health system and improve public education.

“There is so much more to get us on solid foundations,” she said. “There are so many things that we do well in this state that there is no reason that we cannot do better in these areas.”
