Zverev against Berrettini, Tiafoe against Kecmanovic

The second round in Monte-Carlo Masters begins on Tuesday when the top seed Alexander Zverev against Matteo Berrettini faces a tough draw. Frances Tiafoe and Miomir Kecmanovic are still in the first round.

(1) Alexander Zverev against Matteo Berrettini

In No. 34 in the world, Berrettini is about to be sown at Grand Slams-but it will not help him with the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. With Berrettini, the result for him and Zverev is a bad attraction. In the second round of the first master 1000 tournament of the Clay Court swing tournament, they will face each other on Tuesday and mark their seventh encounter. Zverev heads the head-to-head series 4-2 (2-1 on Clay), but his last victory came in 2021 and Berrettini won her last competition two years ago with 6: 3, 7: 6 (4), 7-6 (5) two years ago in Wimbledon.

Since Zverev ended the second place with Jannik Sinner at The Australian Open, he was a complete disaster. The secondary German is 6-6 in his last 12 games and makes no progress compared to the No. 1 ranking, although sinners are suspended for three months. In the meantime, Berrettini has achieved a quarter-final performance in Miami and already has a win in Monte-Carlo after defeating Mariano Navone 6: 4, 6: 4 on Monday. This means that the 34th Italian is used to the conditions, while Zverev has not yet conquered the court after his gross. This is a great opportunity for Berrettini to make a surprise at the expense of a fighting opponent.

(14) Frances Tiafoe against Miomir Kecmanovic

For Tiafoe it will be a quick turn after he ended second place in Jenson Brooksby in Houston on Sunday. It is almost certain that physical and mental tiredness plague the 17th American with just one day between the tournaments and the travel between two different continents.

First for Tiafoe in Monte-Carlo is a fifth competition against Kecmanovic, which is swept 4-0 in the head-to-head series on ATP, but has a challenge victory against Tiafoe. They have never exposed themselves to sound, a surface on which both players are decent but unspectacular. In total, Kecmanovic is in a fixed form-die 47. Serb won 12 main tour games in 2025 and lifted the trophy in Delray Beach. This will probably be one -way traffic for Kecmanovic, especially because of the Tiafoe situation.
