A new documentary reveals the incredible results of a project to create 3D underwater scans of the RMS -RMS -Titanic, which was sunk 113 years ago.

“Titanic: The Digital Resurrection” tells the story of how deep-sea mapping company Magellan “The most precise model of the Titanic was ever created: a complete digital twin, 1: 1, exactly on the rivet,” says a statement by National Geographic published on Tuesday.

The project means that the wreck is digitally preserved as in 2022.

When the Titanic sailed on April 10, 1912, it was the largest passenger ship and was not scabular.

Just four days later, Titanic’s maiden voyage became an international tragedy when she met an iceberg in the North Atlantic on April 14 at 11:40 p.m. It sank in less than three hours.

The ship didn’t have enough rescue boats for the approximately 2,220 people on board. More than 1,500 people died in the accident and the Titanic became the most famous shipwreck in history. There were just more than 700 survivors.

With the 90-minute documentary by National Geographic, the filmmaker Anthony enables “the last moments of the ship to reconstruct the long-term assumptions and the revelation of new insights into what really happened on this fateful night 1912”.

In the film, the Titanic Analyst Parks Stephenson, the Metallurg Jennifer Hooper and Master Chris Hearn for a complete reproduction of the ship, with previously hidden details were emphasized.

An important finding is a visibly open steam valve that confirms the accounts The iceberg hits more than two hours after the Titanic.

This kept the power supply and allowed the crew to send emergency signals, which means that the 35 men in the boiler room Possibly sacrificed themselves to save hundreds of other people.

The team also reconstructs Hull fragments that are scattered on the site and revealed that Titanic did not shared in two parts, but “was violently torn apart and broke through first-class huts, where prominent passengers such as JJ Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim may have been looking for refuge when the ship went down.”

The scan also helps to relieve the first officer William Murdoch, who was accused of having given up his post. The position of a rescue boat Davit, a device used to lower the craft, confirms the testimony that Murdoch was actually washed out at sea when the crew prepared to start it.

Magellan’s scans also show how parts of the wreck collapse, but National Geographic said that the digital twin means: “The Titanic remains perfectly detailed, as it appeared in 2022 and secured its place in history for generations and marks a new era in underwater archeology.”

“Titanic: The Digital Resurrection” will be on National Geographic on April 11th and will be available on April 12th at Streaming Services Disney+ and Hulu.
