Governor Landry aims at high insurance rates in Louisiana

Baton Rouge, La. – According to Bankrate.com, Louisiana has one of the country’s highest car insurance costs with an average annual rate of more than 3,600 US dollars.

On Wednesday, governor Jeff Landry announced that the only way to reduce prices is to hold both lawyers and insurance companies into account.

“Let me be clear, I think both sides have to blame,” said Landry.

According to Landry, minor injury claims in Louisiana are twice as high as on the national average.

He partially accused what he called “the disgusting amount of money that both sides spend on advertising”.

The governor encouraged the legislators to find stricter rules for lawyers’ advertising.

He also wants to prevent insurance companies from passing on their customers marketing costs.

“Texas doesn’t allow it, and we shouldn’t,” said Landry. “I’m just as tired of seeing Morris Bart as I see the lizard.”

Landry asks the legislators to strengthen Louisianas No Pay, No Play Law.

The plaintiffs without insurance would lose the first 100,000 US dollars of their accident claims.

“Not insured drivers should not have the same rights as responsible citizens who pay for insurance cover,” said Landry.

Landry also said that he would support the insurance commissioner to blame the insurance company for the rate increase and at the same time to achieve record profits in the state.

It also urges stricter punishments for SMS and posting on social media while driving.

“The tragic consequences of the distracted driving are far too common and contribute to a too much insurance problem that we see today,” said Landry.

When it comes to control of real estate insurance tariffs, he will strive to strengthen the fortified roof program and the pressure congress of the state and the administration of Trump in order to visit the controversial risk assessment of 2.0 of the FEMA again.

Insurance is only one of the questions that will be discussed from Monday if the legislators return to the state captain at the beginning of this year’s legislative period.
