Josh Groban drives in his experience in the “American Idol”

In an interview with Billboard in April 2025, Groban has a light about how it was to look after the “American Idol”.

For Groban it was a child’s play to join the show. “You didn’t even mention Hawaii before I said yes,” he said. “I’ve already done it, regardless of whether it is ‘idol’ or about my foundation, work with programs after school or children who only need this pressure and advice.”

He continued: “My favorite activity of having a platform is to convey some small amounts of wisdom that may help you escape some of the traps that I had to learn on the hard tour.”

Groban shared that creating a show contains many efforts behind the scenes that cannot be seen. “The talent is real and the notes we give are real,” he noted. “I wish the audience could see us if the cameras didn’t roll – with Jelly (roll) and how we talk about what the participants have to do.”

He also gave an insight into the way they are really “invested” as mentors. “It is really important to us. It is not only for television. Because we were there and we know how special this is for them, and we also know that these are notes that will travel with them beyond the competition,” said Groban.

The singer pointed out that her instructions as mentors go beyond the show, although there is only one “idol” winner.

“You may decide not to go on with music, but we can also note that this experience will be a basis for the trust for you for the rest of your life, and we would like to make sure that the things that we bring in allow you to have to have what you do,” added Groban.

Groban says he owe a lot to his school teachers

While Groban may have been looked after by Heavy-Hitter like David Foster by the music industry, he also received valuable mentoring at school.

“I would also like to give my teachers a huge greeting,” said Groban. “The unsung heroes were my choir teachers in the junior high and in high school when I was on my most unsafe. They kept me to find my voice to find myself.”

He added: “And it just happens that I went into it professionally, but even if I hadn’t done it … it helped me as a person. It helped me as someone who was lost in me a little to realize that my voice had a place in this world and when I had gone to veterinary medicine, which was still followed, which would still have followed me.”
