In the past two years, Erie Insurance has planted 100 shadow trees along the streets East 5th and 6th between the streets of French and parade.

“One of the things that have happened over time, not only with us in our neighborhood, but in the whole city, is that many trees were decreased, so we thought, and we thought we had 100 trees in expectation of our 100th anniversary. And we have just planted the 100th tree,” said Tom Hagen, chairman of the Erie Insurance.

Easter preparations begin throughout Erie.

The colonial elm was selected because it is a local tree that grows well in urban environments. 1,900 trees were also distributed to Erie Insurance employees in order to plant the company’s 12-states footprint.
