Second Hegseth consultant in the Pentagon losing probe suspended

A second advisor to the Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth was suspended under an ongoing examination of information in the Pentagon.

The deputy chief of staff of the Ministry of Defense, Selnick in it, was put on the administrative holiday “until an investigation”, a US defense officer told the Hill.

Selnick’s suspension was carried out as part of the same examination of the leaks of the department, which led to Dan Caldwell, Hegseth’s senior consultant, who was worked out of the Pentagon on Tuesday and transferred to administrative leave.

Selnick is a retired Air Force officer who was part of several veterans. From 2019 to 2004 he was a senior advisor to the affected veterans for America, the non -profit group previously cited by Hegseth.

Selnick’s suspension was first reported by Politico. The outlet reported that the Lecks, which was examined by the department under the probe, examined the movement of a second aircraft carrier to the Red Sea, the military operating plans for the Panama Canal, the visit of Tech billionaire Elon Musk in the department and the increase in secret services with Ukraine, civil servant with the matter.

The Ministry of Defense said in March that an investigation into “youngest non -authorized disclosures of national security information” began and that it would use polygraph as part of the investigation process.

“This investigation will begin immediately and culminate in a report to the Defense Minister,” Joe Kasper von Hegseth wrote in a memo on March 21. “The report will contain a complete recording of non -authorized information in the Ministry of Defense and recommendations to improve these efforts.”

Caldwell, a veteran of the Marine Corps, was also a consultant for public policy in the priorities of the thinking factory defense in Washington. He was selected by the Defense Minister as the contact point in the chat of the signal group, on which US officials strike against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
