Memphis Star occurs after the big season

The Memphis basketball star PJ Haggerty has entered the transfer portal.

A program spokesman confirmed the news for the commercial appointment on April 17.

The consensus-all-American, which in the country as third in the country (21.8 points per game) as the second tiger with the Tigers-Hat two seasonal seasons. If you enter the transmission portal, it does not rule out a return to Memphis.

Haggerty’s decision gives him flexibility for the future and opens the door for other programs to formally follow the 6-3 watch.

But it could also complicate things for Memphis because coach Penny Hardaway wants to work quickly to fill up with a potentially exhausted squad. The tigers lose at least three and possibly all five starters from the team this season, which the NCAA tournament reached as a 5-sea. Four backups are also either justified or have entered the transfer portal.

The tigers have made progress to reconstruct the squad for the 2025-26 season. Temple Guard Guard, Western Kentucky Guard Julius “King” Thedford, the security guard of South Carolina, Zachary Davis and the Wing of Saint Mary’s Wing Ashton Hardaway, have undertaken to switch to Memphis. The Tigers also have commitments to Daniel Vieira-Tuck and the Junior College Transfer Guard Felipe Patino.

Although it is also not the transfer portal, it is unclear whether the security guard Dante Harris or Forward Bouna Kebe will return. All-Aac Big Man Dainja of the first team also follows another season, but there is no guarantee that the NCAA will grant it.

Haggerty and his future have been the focus of intensive speculation for months. He came to the Tiger’s last low season after winning AAC newcomers of the year in Tulsa, but his star rose higher under Hardaway.

Haggerty helped the Tigers to win the AAC championship of the regular season to win the AAC tournament title, which opens the conference player of the year, unanimous all-AAC and AAC tournament of the first team. He was also third in the team in the rebound (5.8 per game) and second in the nation in Made free throws (224), while he shot 36.4% from the 3-point line.

NIL compensation was the main concentrated point for every discussion about Haggerty’s future. Hardaway said late in the season that there is the likelihood that other programs have already used a lot of money to lure Haggerty away from Memphis. Several evaluation estimates estimates the NIL of PEG Hagggerty worth around 1.7 million US dollars.
