Winter is over! What did you think? | Take part in the winter planning survey

||| From the consulting committee of the San Juan County Ferry |||

After a long process of writing a new ferry plan for the routes of the San Juans, the SJC Ferry Advisory Committee would like to know what they thought about the revised winter plan. We have created a five-question survey to collect your feedback. The results are shared to Washington State Ferries.

To take over the survey, visit the “Engage” page (https: // herself.Sanjuancountywa.gov/san-juan-District Ferry information) or click here: https: // engage.Sanjuancountywa.gov/san-juan-County Fry information/Surveys/winter Schedule survey

Purpose of the survey: Evaluation of the customer experience with the winter plan of San Juan Island.

Background: After almost two years of collaboration between Washington State Ferries (WSF) and the municipalities of the San Juan Islands islands, the sail plans of the winter and spring season were updated for our route. The new winter plan began on December 29, 2024, with the updated spring plan began on March 23, 2025.

Since the last major schedule over a decade ago, the route has been subjected to significant changes, including the growth of the driver, the vehicle reservations as well as the latest ships and the crew challenges. The new schedule includes adapted island stops, revised sailing times, updated vehicle allocations (vehicle percentages for every island station) and the introduction of the weekend interior service in winter. In addition, crossing and dwell times (time ships at terminals) were made more realistic in order to improve punctual performance and offer customers a greater certainty.

Important NOTE: This survey takes place by the San Juan County Ferry consulting committee and is only intended for information purposes. The results are shared to Washington State Ferries.

Important considerations:

  • Have you experienced noticeable changes in sailing times, punctual performance or availability?
  • Do you find the new schedule for your travel needs, including the weekend interior country service?
  • Will the adapted island stands and revised vehicle allocations effectively serve your community?
  • Your feedback helps the Sji Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) with WSF, so that the schedules best meet both the needs of local communities and visitors.

The SJC Ferry Advisory Committee thanks you for your feedback!
