Kraken Fire head coach Dan Bylsma

The Seattle Kraken releases head coach Dan Bylsma after spending only one season at the top, reported Elliotte Friedman von Sportsnet on Monday.

Bylsma led the octopus to a 35-41-6 record in 2024-25 after taking over the last low season for Dave Hakstol. Bylsma was the second head coach in the franchise story.

The octopus ended with 76 points – 20 Back of the last playoff place in the Western Conference.

Seattle was the third station during his NHL head coaching career after earlier stays with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres.

During his six seasons at Pittsburgh, Bylsma helped the penguins to the playoffs every year and won the Stanley Cup in his first job in 2008/09. He also won the Jack Adams Award as the top coach of the NHL in 2010-11.

The octopus ceased Bylsma to work with her AHL team as an assistant in 2021 before promoting him to the head coach of Coachella Valley Firebirds next season.

For his NHL career, the 54-year-old has a record of 355-231-61 in the regular season and a 43-35 mark in the playoffs.

Bylsma becomes the third head coach, who has been released since the end of the 2024-25 season, and Greg Cronin (Anaheim Ducks) and Peter Laviolet (New York Rangers) joined.

Francis has been working as General Manager of Seattle since the expansion was founded.

Botterill has been the deputy general manager of the club since 2021. He was General Manager for the Buffalo Sabres from 2017 and 2020 and in 2014 held the title of the between -GM with the Penguins for less than a month.

After a 100-point season in which they met the playoffs in 2022-23, the octopuses took a step back in each of the two years.
