Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell says that JJ McCarthy (knee) has no restrictions at the beginning of the offseason program

O’Connell said that the first phase of the offseason program, starting with work and rehabilitation training, is “perfect” for McCarthy.

If you move forward, the question is whether and when the Vikings could add an experienced signal caller. Minnesota was beaten for the veterans Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones, and both went better ways to play. Aaron Rodgers’ name was handled as a potential veteran deduction, but the Vikings are planning to give the reins.

“We were patient and we really rated many different options on how we could possibly do this,” said O’Connell about adding a veteran -QB. “There are potential trades and freelance agency and still the draft. We are making the process to find out who we want to consolidate this room with. … If that happens, the timing remains to be seen.”

At this point, McCarthy is the majority of the early Offseason repetitions – mentally and physically – best for its development. With Brett Rypien, the only other quarterback on the list, someone is added in front of the training camp. The type of signal trailer OB simply depends on the progress that McCarthy continues to achieve.
