The running fire grows in Barnegat to 150 acres: officials

Barnegat, NJ – The forest fire, which is on Tuesday afternoon in Barnegat, has grown to 150 hectares and is completely uncomfortable, the authorities said.

For the Wells Mills Road from Bryant Road to Garden State Parkway in Waretown, the Wells Mills Road Road is ongoing. A temporary protection is available in the Waretown Methodist Church.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 3:30 p.m. that the Garden State Parkway in Waretown could be closed. The drivers are asked to take alternative routes and to expect delays.

New Jersey Forest Fire Service officers called The Blaze The Jones Waldfire and are on site to work on the containment.

“The crews are to build new contamination lines and strengthen existing ones,” said officials from the forest fire brigade. “Backfriding operation is underway in front of the main body of the fire to burn fuel.”

The fire is located in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management region, which spans the Townships Barnegat, Berkeley, Lacey, Manchester, Waretown and Woodland.

Twelve structures along Route 532 are threatened by fire.

These streets are currently closed from 2 p.m.

  • Route 532 (Wells Mills Road) between Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway
  • Bryant Road between Route 532 and Route 539
  • Jones Road between Route 532 and the Bryant Road
