ESPN broadcaster Mike Patrick Dead, born in the state, at 80

Mike Patrick, one of the best known and experienced sports channels for several decades, died at the age of 80.

Patrick comes from Clarksburg and the Washington Irving High School and George Washington University and had a complete radio career for ESPN from 1982 to 2018.

From 1987 to 2005 Patrick served as the voice of the Sunday evening on ESPN together with Joe Theismann and Paul Maguire. He was subjected to a bypass operation in 2004 and returned to the booth a little more than two months later.

Patrick also regularly called college football and college basketball games, including more than 30 basketball championships at the Atlantic Coast Conference and the final four of women from 1996 to 2009.

From 2003 to 2014 Patrick was on annual programs by College World Series.

The Liberty Bowl 2017 between Iowa State and Memphis, which took place on December 30 of this year, was the last game that Patrick called for ESPN.

He announced his resignation of ESPN in February 2018.
