The Spokane Chiefs Organization wins Business Award

The Western Hockey League announced on Tuesday that it selected the Spokane Chiefs organization as the winner of the WHK Business Award for the regular 2024-25 season.

The award is awarded annually to the Hockey Club, which illustrates an example of the community and produces a game of play that is valued by fans. The Chiefs recently won the award for the 2022-23 season.

“It is a great honor to receive this award, in particular to know how difficult every staff works in the WHL throughout the season,” said Chiefs Vice President Jay Stewart in a press release. “This recognition reflects the hours, creativity and commitment to the production of a full hockey season for our community.

The Chiefs celebrated their 40th anniversary season in the Western Hockey League and set up a new benchmark.

The Chiefs took second place in the WHL visitor with 220,000 fans through the doors of the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, an average of over 6,500 fans per game and the highest average of the club per game since 2008-09.

“This award is also a representation of how great our fans and sponsors are,” said Stewart in the publication. “Without them, we would not be able to create the atmosphere in the Spokane Arena, with which Chiefs games are synonymous. We are grateful for your continued support.”
