London Marathon 2025: Politicians on the run as 17 MPS search for PBS | Marathon News

17 MPs of Parliament and colleagues will take part in this year’s TCS London Marathon-but they have to do something to beat the longest time for a seated MP.

Members from the entire political spectrum will put their running shoes – 10 Labor MPs will be on the starting line together with five conservatives and two by the liberal Democrats.

Clear majority for work

This year’s cohort will make 10 debuts for the 45th edition of the event, six of which belong to Labor: Michael Shanks (Rutherglen), John Slinger (Rugby), Chris Curtis (Milton Keynes North), Lloyd Hatton (South Dorset), Patrick Hurley (Southport) and Josh Fenton and Josh Fenton (Calder Valley).

Robert Jenrick (Newark), the shadow secretary of the judiciary, is among the other debutants who are trying for the first time as a member of the 26.2 mile course, together with the conservative MP Harriet Cross (Gordon and Buchan) as well as Blake Stephenson (medium-sized shear) as well as Liberalem Democrat (Harga and Knordborough).

The most experienced is Alex Norris (Lab (Co-OP), Nottingham North and Kimberley), who will take part in his fourth marathon in London as a member.

Lord James Bethell, the only peer who took part this year, returns to his third TCS London Marathon in a row.

What is the fastest time of a MP?

Of course, it is only about participation and hopefully around 26.2 miles, but the fastest London marathon period ever taken by a seated male MP, dates from 1985 and only the fifth edition of the race.

This was achieved by Matthew Parris (Con, Derbyshire West) when he achieved a super -impressive 2:32:57 a.m.

The fastest time of a seated female MP was determined by the liberal Democrat Jo Swinson in 2011 when it ended 3:57:00 a.m.

Chancellor in 2024 in the series

After Alun Cairns and Edward Timpson were operated 12 per piece, they consider the men’s record for the highest number of London marathons, which were completed as a member.

Cat Smith (Labor, Lancaster and Wyre) will take part in her third London marathon this year, which corresponds to Ruth Cadbury’s record for most participants in the event as a female MP.

The number of participants in the MPs dropped three when 20 ended the event.

The best known was Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, but he wasn’t the fastest.

This honor went to the conservative Peer Lord Graham Evans, who completed the course in 3:23:35.
