NFL design profile and projection for the defensive Lineman Ty Hamilton

Ty Hamilton started all 16 games for the National Champion Buckeyes in the defensive line. Usually one would expect such a sentence to be preceded by a potential selection in the first round. After all, you can’t play every game in a team so well, unless you are so good. And yes, Hamilton is so good. In college. The reason why he is still in the Draft board and is expected to stay that way for a while is that NFL scouts seem to be concerned, as will lead to the professionals.

Hamilton has many highlights in the film. The problem for him is that they don’t seem to come almost often enough. In his 16 games in 2024, he recorded only 2.5 sacks and only six duels for loss. These are not numbers that scream after a high draft selection. What Hamilton does well, however, is to open blocks and to be a threat in the line of defense. NFL teams seem to be concerned that he does not get out of blocks well enough and that he is a bit lower size for a top linema math. Fair enough. But his speed and movement are so that if he is exposed to someone as a top -offensive lineeman, which is included, the teams have paid.

Where is the country of Hamilton? Well, it ends up on an NFL squad, even if he doesn’t play much in the league in the first few years. And that’s the kind of player who take teams when we get into the fifth and sixth round. Some bills have it as high as the late third round, which for him a fair best case scenario appears. In any case, Hamilton is moved into a team in which he has the chance to achieve an influence, even if he still has to improve a little before we see his NFL highlights instead of his college facilities.
