The police examined a fraudulent gofundme that collected thousands of donations after the organizer claimed that they would collect money for the funeral costs for one of the teenagers from Massachusetts who died after a car accident in Florida last week.

According to superintendent Laurie Hunter, three seniors of the Concord-Carlisle High School were killed in a car accident on Monday evening. Jimmy Mcintosh and Hannah Wasserman died in the accident, while Maisey O’Donnell was later declared dead in the hospital.

After the crash, a gofundme, who claimed to collect money for Wasserman’s family, began online. In a letter to the school community, Superintendent Hunter said that the page did not belong to its family members and that gofundme had been reported.

A spokesman for the Concord Police only confirmed that the examination has not yet been completed.

A Gofundme spokesman said that “the organizer never had access to the means.” All donors were refunded and the fundraising campaign was removed when Gofundme could not confirm the recipient of the funds.

According to WBZ News, the site brought more than 8,000 US dollars.

“If there is an unspeakable tragedy, people have a deep urge to help those affected and to offer comfort – it is not unusual for someone to create a gofundme that helps another person,” said the speaker. “During our review process, all funds remained secure by our payment processors to ensure that the funds were safely delivered to the family.”

The car of the high school seniors drove in an SUV on the US Highway 98 when she collided with a tractor-trailer that made a U-turn. The two men in the truck were not injured.

The students went on social media to remember Mcintosh, Wasserman and O’Donnell.

“Our hearts go to the community according to this tragedy. At Gofundme it is our top priority to give and maintain a safe and trustworthy place, and we continue to monitor the platform for all donation campaigns that are related to this incident,” said Gofundme’s spokesman.

The school district did not respond to a request for an update on the condition of the fourth student on Sunday evening.
