Kalen DeBoer: Alabama’s players wanted to finish strong despite the loss to Oklahoma

Kalen DeBoers Alabama The team fell against it in demoralizing fashion Oklahomaand their dreams of making it College Football Playoffs possibly dashed.

The Sooners shocked the world by scoring 24 tiebreaking points and sending the Crimson Tide back to Tuscaloosa with their third loss of the season. Afterwards, DeBoer was pressed about how he would try to get his team back on its feet and finish the year strong, even though it might not have a chance at the national title.

“I mean, that’s the commitment we make to each other when we first — when we come in here,” DeBoer said, referring to his players remaining locked in for Week 14. “You know, we sign up to play for Alabama, you make this commitment to each other and the brotherhood. There’s nothing in this room right now that suggests there’s anyone saying it’s someone else who needs to get better. It’s about winning and losing as a team. You know, we made this commitment too, not just to each other, but we’re going to finish it, and we’re going to finish everything we do, and that’s a big game next week.

“So we have to regroup. Stick together. The guys are saying the right things there, as much as it hurts, and you know, just keep playing, be proud of who we are and finish the job.”

Alabama looked like the Crimson Tide of old earlier this season after beating Georgia in an intense battle, but they have been uneven since then. Since they have losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma on their resume, they may not be able to benefit from the doubts they have received from the College Football Playoff Selection Committee in the past.

Regardless, Kalen DeBoer recognizes he needs to have his team ready to return home for the Iron Bowl in Week 14. Although he hasn’t led the program yet, Auburn is seeking revenge with a repeat performance in 2023 on the line. and the Tigers are extremely motivated to hand the Crimson Tide a fourth loss.
