Influencer sentenced to 10 years in prison for plotting to murder online rivals

A Influencers received a 10-year prison sentence Jail Punishment after hiring someone to kill his online rival.

The shocking murder plot began in August 2022 when 35-year-old Texas social media influencer Ashley Grayson asked a woman she had previously worked with to fly to Dallas to discuss a “business opportunity.”

The following month, the woman and her husband did just that and met up with Grayson and her husband.

There she is said to have asked the couple to kill her former boyfriend as well as an online rival and another woman who had criticized her online. Grayson offered the couple $20,000 each in return.

In another recorded video call, Grayson reiterated that she wanted to kill her online rival immediately and even offered an extra $5,000 to do it within a week.

The dispute between Grayson and her rival, who lives in Mississippi, began when the rival opened an online store similar to hers in 2021.

In July 2023, Grayson and her husband were charged with murder-for-hire, but the latter was acquitted. Grayson was found guilty and received a 10-year prison sentence – the maximum sentence allowed.

“This was a 21st century crime in which online feuds and senseless rivalries spilled over into the real world,” said attorney Reagan Fondren. “The defendant attempted to hire someone to murder a woman over things that only happened on the internet.

“Fortunately, no one was physically injured in this case, but the victim and his family still felt severe and emotional distress as a result of the defendant’s actions. The proactive response of the investigative authorities and our prosecutors prevented an even more serious crime.”
