Three days later, Loganville Christian lost to Cristo Rey Atlanta by 18 points, but turned around and beat Trinity Christian 56-29 later that week.

In the Lions’ last game, they lost to Providence Christian Academy 70-63.

Ironically, Long’s team was more successful when it shot worse and defended better. The Lions shoot around eight percent worse in their wins than in their losses.

The team also lost many familiar faces to trades or transfers in the offseason.

With leading scorers Devin Larry and Banks Pourchier no longer in the program, freshman Jeremiah Anderson is leading Loganville Christian’s offense.

The 6-foot-2 winger averages just over 14 points per game and has helped his teammates get involved, too.

Isaiah Falby, Trey Neal and Jayden Stevenson are also new faces on the roster.

Falby is a senior and is the Lions’ second-leading scorer, averaging just over eight points per game, and the junior duo of Neal and Stevenson are averaging seven points per game each.

It’s always difficult to follow a state championship appearance, but that’s exactly what Long’s expectations are for this season.

With an expanded region, Loganville Christian’s goal remains to compete for a regional title and secure a spot in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association state playoffs. It would be the third straight season the Lions would have a chance to compete for a state title
