Murder-suicide investigations in Lutz | HCSO, Tampa, FL

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide in Lutz.

On November 29, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., HCSO’s 911 center received a call from a concerned mother who was unable to reach her 5-year-old son and his father.

Officers conducted a wellness check at the residence in the 17600 block of Cranbrook Drive at 7:53 a.m. and found no immediate signs of concern.

At 9:55 a.m., the mother called 911 again after gaining entry to the home, where she found both her son and his deceased father.

Officers arrived at the scene at 10:05 a.m. and confirmed the deaths.

Both people suffered gunshot wounds.

HCSO investigators are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

“This is an incredibly heartbreaking loss for this family and our prayers are with them during this unimaginable time.” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Tragedies like this have a profound impact on everyone involved, including our deputies who responded to such a devastating scene right after Thanksgiving. We are committed to supporting both the grieving family and our deputies in dealing with this difficult situation.”
