The second round of the NCAA Division II football playoffs is upon us and two 11-1 teams face off.

Grand Valley State, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, hosts Harding on Saturday, Nov. 30. The Lakers are coming off a 24-7 win over Indianapolis, where Ike Udengwu threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

Unranked Harding defeated No. 3 Pittsburg State 48-3. The Bisons made easy work of the Gorillas despite trailing 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. Harding scored 48 unanswered points, including 24 in the second quarter alone.

Although unseeded, the Bison shouldn’t be considered underdogs. The team is 11-1 and has averaged nearly 52 points per game this season. They have reached the 40-point mark in all but two games, one of which was the 17-13 loss to Ouachita Baptist. The other was a 34-7 win over East Central (OK).

Grand Valley State may have home-field advantage in this playoff matchup, but don’t let Harding’s offensive firepower surprise you. The Bison are one of the best Division II teams in the country, ranked or not.
