Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Jeep under 305,000 were recalled

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued several recalls last week, including notices forOver 145,000 Hyundai vehicles have a charging problem.

Stellantis is recalling Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L due to incorrect vehicle speed

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 7,198 of its 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles.

The automaker said in the NHTSA report that a software error in the instrument cluster could cause the speedometer to display the incorrect vehicle speed.

Driving without knowing the speed of the vehicle increases the risk of an accident, the report said.

In addition, the government agency stated that these vehicles do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101, “Indicators and Controls.”

To fix the problem, dealers will check and update the instrument cluster software free of charge if necessary, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed by December 17th. Owners can contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The FCA number for this recall is B8B.

Fisker calls Ocean back due to a transmission error

Fisker is recalling 7,745 of its 2023 to 2024 Ocean vehicles

The automaker said in the NHTSA report that the transmission may not shift into the desired gear. This could cause the vehicle to roll while driving or reversing, the report said.

A rolling vehicle increases the risk of an accident or injury, the report said.

Fisker released a free over-the-air (OTA) software update on March 11, 2024, the report said. Owners can contact Fisker customer service at 1-844-347-5371.

Honda recalls motorcycles due to defective fuel pump

Honda is recalling 40,481 of its motorcycles.

According to the NHTSA report, the fuel pump impellers may have been misshapen. This problem could cause them to deform and lead to fuel pump failure, the report said.

A fuel pump failure could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of an accident, the report said.

To correct the problem, dealers will inspect the fuel pump module and replace it if necessary, the NHTSA report said. This service is carried out free of charge. Recall letters are expected to be sent by January 6, 2025. Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. This recall is an extension of NHTSA recall number 24V-113.

Kia recall due to loss of drive power

Kia is recalling over 62,000 of its 2022-2024 EV6 vehicles.

The car manufacturer is recalling 62,872 cars due to loss of drive power caused by a damaged charger. In the NHTSA recall report, Kia said the integrated charge control unit (ICCU) could become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, resulting in a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of an accident.

According to the NHTSA recall report, Kia dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse if necessary, as well as update the ICCU software at no charge. Recall notices are expected to be delivered by December 13 and owners can contact Kia Customer Service (1-800-333-4542). The NHTSA notice states that this recall expands and replaces a previous recall (24V-200). If your vehicle was repaired as part of the previous recall, you will need to have the new service performed.

Tucson, Santa Cruz: Vehicle rolls away

Hyundai is recalling 42,465 of its 2025 Tucson and Santa Cruz vehicles.

The automaker said in the NHTSA report that the console extension cable assembly may have been misrouted. This allows the transmission to be shifted out of park without pressing the brake pedal, the report said.

A transmission that can shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal could cause a vehicle to roll, the report said. This can increase the risk of an accident.

Owners of the recalled vehicles are advised to apply the parking brake when parking the vehicle. According to the NHTSA recall report, dealers will reroute the console extender cable assembly at no charge. Recall notifications are expected to be delivered by January 19, 2025. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 273.

IONIQ, Genesis due to charging problem

Hyundai is recalling over 145,000 vehicles, including several IONIQ and Genesis models.

The car manufacturer is recalling 145,235 of its vehicles due to loss of drive caused by a damaged charger. In the NHTSA recall report, Hyundai said the integrated charge control unit (ICCU) could become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, resulting in a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of an accident.

Hyundai dealers will perform service repairs free of charge, including inspecting and replacing the ICCU and securing it if necessary, as well as updating the ICCU software, the recall report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed by January 17, 2025. However, owners can also contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or Genesis customer service at 1-844-340-9741. This recall numbers 272 (Hyundai) and 025G (Genesis) expands and replaces the previous recall number 24V-204. If your vehicle was repaired as part of the previous recall, you will need to have the new remedial action performed.
