Cats are generally considered the rock stars of the internet. At least in 2015, cats accounted for nearly 15% of all internet traffic and were Googled about 30 million times per month. They have even been dubbed the “unofficial mascots of the Internet.”

However, dogs are no less cute than cats. In fact, some people might argue that they’re even sweeter. You know, the never-ending debate between cat people and dog people. Or it could be more than just a debate. Here in this article it says that an Instagram spokesperson revealed that dogs are slightly more popular on the platform than cats. Speaking of dog content on Instagram, there is a page on this platform called “Alpha Paw.” It currently has almost 850,000 followers and has gained them by posting various memes and jokes about dogs.

If you’re wondering what kind of memes they post, our list is for you. Sweet, isn’t it?

But do you know why we humans find dogs cute in the first place? Well, it has to do with the fact that canines have features like large, round heads; big eyes, floppy ears and soft fur, to name a few.

These features look appealing to people because they resemble those of a baby, which has been shown to make people feel mushy inside.

The sight of both a cute animal like a dog and a cute baby triggers a specific response in the central part of the brain’s orbital frontal cortex, located behind the bridge of the nose. Essentially, every time a human sees any type of cub, human or not, their brain triggers a caring instinct that has evolved over thousands of years for humans to care for their own babies.

Even if you think that certain dog breeds are ugly, like the Chinese Crested or the English Bull Terrier, which are found in this top 10 list of the “ugliest” dogs, you will still find at least some of them cute. Because of these characteristics, your brain just can’t resist.

At the same time, there are people who don’t think dogs are cute at all, and even these cute characteristics can’t change their minds. As this person on Quora said, they generally hate dogs. To them they are unattractive, needy, annoying and expensive beings.
