Fantasy Football Streaming Running Backs Added to Waiver Wire in Week 13

We’re entering the home stretch of the fantasy football regular season, with just two weeks until the playoffs.

Luckily, there are no teams on byes this week, nor were there any many Serious injuries at RB, so your squad should be decided. However, there are still some solid running backs in most leagues on waivers who could help this week or in the future.

Below are three RBs that fit this scheme. Let’s get started. All availability numbers come from ESPN.

Ameer Abdullah, Las Vegas Raiders, 80% available

Abdullah was the top player I mentioned here last week and he delivered, scoring 17.5 fantasy points in PPR leagues and leading the Raiders backfield in touches. Zamir White and Alexander Mattison both missed the Week 12 game, but even if they return, it’s hard to imagine Abdullah being left off the schedule, especially in the passing game where he made 5 catches for 37 yards and scored a touchdown. This was the second straight game in which he received a touchdown.

This week the Raiders face the NFL’s best run-stopping defense, the Kansas City Chiefs. What should be a negative game script is that the Raiders need to throw more and Abdullah is their best pass-catching back. While the Chiefs are also good at preventing RBs from doing much in the receiving game, Abdullah’s volume comes in handy here and makes him a good flex option.

He is also a top waiver wire add on Michael Fabiano’s Week 13 list.

Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears, 78% available

I also mentioned Johnson here last week, and while he didn’t get as much work as he did in Week 11, he still scored a touchdown. That’s two weeks in a row that Johnson has scored and three of the last five weeks. He has established himself as the Bears’ primary runner when it comes to driving the ball in short yardage.

This week isn’t going particularly well for Johnson as the Bears face the Lions, a team that gives up the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. But in a short week, the Bears may need to lean more heavily on Johnson. To stay in the game, they also need to control the clock. This only happens with a run-heavy attack.

The week after predicts a better game against a 49ers defense that ranks 11th in fantasy points allowed to RBs and has given up the third-most rushing TDs in the league. Johnson has appeared in 40% or more of the Bears snaps over the last two weeks, suggesting his role in this offense is solid.

Jeremy McNichols, Washington Commanders, 98% available

I know I said there weren’t many major injuries at RB, but the one that stands out the most is Austin Ekeler. He suffered a serious blow early against the Cowboys and was hospitalized with a diagnosed concussion. Starter Brian Robinson also suffered a hit against the Cowboys.

The Commanders play the Titans on Sunday, so that opener depends on whether Ekeler or Robinson plays. Even if only Ekeler misses time, that opens the door for McNichols. Ekeler had scored over 17 points in PPR leagues in three of his last four games prior to Week 12.

The Titans have been solid against RBs this year, giving up an average of just 17.3 fantasy points per game against them. However, this could be a positive play and the Commanders could run the ball a lot against this defense. McNichols is a good flex option with the RB2 advantage if Ekeler is out.
