Christmas markets bring festive local shopping to New Jersey this weekend

NEW JERSEY – There’s a holiday spirit in the Garden State this weekend as cities host a variety of seasonal markets and fairs offering unique gifts, local crafts and family-friendly activities.

In Rahway, the Downtown Rahway Holiday Markets provide two days of festive fun. The event began Friday with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at City Hall Plaza, accompanied by family attractions such as bouncy castles, face painting and bumper cars. The celebration continued with a parade and the Shop Rahway pop-up market featuring handmade gifts from local artisans. On Saturday, the Cherry Street Market & Pop-Ups will provide additional shopping opportunities, while a sensory Santa experience at the Rahway Recreation Center will accommodate children with special needs.

Asbury Park is once again hosting its popular Christmas Bazaar, inspired by traditional German Christmas markets. The main bazaar takes place Friday through Sunday in the Grand Arcade of the Convention Hall, with an additional event on Sunday at the Asbury Hotel.

In Clinton, the Winter Village and Festival of Trees transforms the historic Red Mill Museum Village into a holiday wonderland. Visitors can discover decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces up for grabs in raffles while browsing over 40 craft vendors and enjoying holiday lights and decorations throughout the grounds.

Other standout events include the Off the Wall Holiday Market in Princeton Junction, which showcases art and handmade items, and Christmas at the Hangar in Cape May at the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum. The latter offers photo ops with Santa, live music, craft tables for kids, and festive treats like free hot chocolate. In Holmdel, Bell Works Fresh Holiday Market features a curated selection of 75 local artists and makers who create a diverse selection of unique gifts.

For those looking for a full experience, the Grounds For Sculpture Artisan Holiday Market in Hamilton features over 40 artisans selling handmade jewelry, pottery and gourmet treats. Guests can also explore the 42-acre sculpture park, enjoy seasonal food and drinks, and even dine at the award-winning Rat’s Restaurant.

Other holiday shopping options include the Montclair Flea Holiday Market, which features vintage and handmade goods, and the Bergenfield High School Holiday Flea Market, where visitors can find holiday gifts, collectibles and crafts at affordable prices. Families can also visit Voorhees for the AWA Pawliday Winter Wonderland, a festive event celebrating the pet season to benefit the Animal Welfare Association.

Holmdel will host another major event on Sunday with the Monmouth Moms’ Holiday Fair at Bell Works. This family-friendly event includes photos with Santa, live music, face painting and over 80 holiday vendors. Visitors are encouraged to bring toy and gift card donations to support the Friends of JJ charity.

From bustling craft markets to cozy community fairs, New Jersey’s holiday events this weekend offer something for everyone, making it an ideal time to support local businesses and enjoy the spirit of the season.
