The woman behind the Hallandale Beach murder-suicide had worked as a model

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla — The 27-year-old woman who police said was behind a murder-suicide in Hallandale Beach had worked as a model in New York.

Sabrina Dzaferovic had lived on the corner of 21st Avenue and 35th Street in Astoria, a neighborhood in Queens where migrants from Balkan countries mix. She had a backstage profile with headshots and photos of her riding a motorcycle in a bikini. A few years ago, a photojournalist filmed the voluptuous model strolling through Times Square for an Inside Edition report by Lisa Guerrero on the annoyance of street whistling.

After the video showed men she didn’t know making rude comments about her body and appearance, she said, “It just gives you goosebumps.”

Investigators identified Dzaferovic as Sabrina Krasniqi, the woman who fatally shot her husband, Pajtim Krasniqi, and then herself on the balcony of apartment 4508 at 1830 South Ocean Drive in Hallandale Beach on Wednesday. The Albanian-American from New York and Peja, Kosovo was 34 years old. He survived a motorcycle accident in 2018.

A shot spotter recorded five shots fired rapidly, a short pause, and a sixth shot. Albana Krasniqi wrote on Facebook that her sister-in-law shot her younger brother five times in the chest on Thanksgiving Eve.

“She betrayed him, his love and his trust. She destroyed my family. My siblings and I will never be the same again. I’m afraid my mother will never recover,” the grieving woman wrote on Thursday.

Aerial photos of the sea-view apartment showed a heart-shaped box containing roses and a teddy bear. Yellow and white tarps covered their bodies on the balcony. Investigators were still investigating the motive when Vox News Albania reported that “adultery” was suspected as the cause.
