Jake Paul deletes post after leaking how much Tommy Fury turned down Netflix rematch – Boxing News

Jake Paul leaked how much he offered to fight Tommy Fury live on Netflix, only to have his post deleted.

Earlier this month, Paul faced Mike Tyson in a record-breaking event that was broadcast live on the service and was attended by 70,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

According to Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, there were 108 million total viewers, 65 million of which were live streams – making it the most streamed sporting event of all time.

Paul defeated the 58-year-old Tyson by unanimous decision in an eight-round heavyweight bout to move to 11-1 in his professional career.

His only career defeat came against Fury, who defeated him on points at cruiserweight in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. But according to Paul, there was a lucrative offer on the table for Fury to meet Paul again live on Netflix.

“Offered Fury $8 million to fight on Netflix,” Paul claimed in a post that was later removed.

“He declined and now he’s fighting an MMA fighter…Now tell me who’s running? Stupid child controlled by daddy, protected from the inevitable.”

Going into the fight with Tyson, Paul boasted that he would earn around $40 million (£31.1 million) from the fight, with “Iron” Mike set to earn around $20 million for his return.

After defeating Paul, Fury turned his attention to his YouTube rival KSI and prevailed again with a unanimous decision triumph following a showdown in Manchester in October 2023.

After a long layoff following necessary surgery, Fury returns to the ring against former UFC fighter Darren Till for the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 card on January 18 in his hometown.

In a press conference where it all started, the Liverpudlian threatened to headbutt “TNT” if the fight didn’t go his way – which would result in an automatic disqualification.

“At the end of the day I can’t beat you, I’ll just kick you in the face,” the former UFC welterweight title challenger said during the pre-fight press conference, via The Mirror.

“How about this? I’m a real fighter, not a boxer. I don’t walk into a room like this, see boxing and say ‘shit’.”

“I’m going in, no one here is a threat to me. Not a single person in this room, security, you, your father, is not a threat to me.”

“I am an MMA fighter. So if I want to kick you or elbow you in the face, I will do that and no one can do anything about it.”
