A conversation that is suitable for an opening starter: Guardian’s breakfast today

On Wednesday, Vogt remembered a conversation with the right -handed Tanner Bibee in these early days in the last spring. It went like this:

Bibee: “I’m a No. 1 (starter).”

Vogt: “Yes, I know. You will be.”

Bibee: “No, I want to start the opening day (2024).”

Vogt: “Well, Shane Bieber may have something to say. But I love where you are and never lose it.”

At the beginning of this week, Vogt visited this conversation with Bibee when he told him that he was the guards’ opening day against Kansas City on March 27th in the Kauffman Stadium.

“It was’ Hey, you wanted that and now you deserve it,” Vogt said on Wednesday on the team’s training situation in Goodyear, Arizona. “Tanner deserves all of this. We are just very excited for him and his family. It’s a big deal.”

Bibee will start his third and last Cactus League against the Padres on Saturday. The guards slowly brought him this spring because he set career height in starts, quality starts and strikes last year.

On Monday evening, Bibee threw six goalless innings against the Reds. He excluded four and allowed a goal.

While Bobeses is set, Vogt gave questions about the rest of the rotation.

Shane Bieber made five opening day from 2020 to 2024 for Cleveland. Two starts last season Bieber injured his right elbow and needed operated on. In December he signed Free Agent with the Guardians and is still recovering from the operation of last year.
