A local family is offering a community mailbox for letters to Santa

CHUBBUCK (KPVI) – Christmas is fast approaching and one local family is preparing for the holiday in a fun way. The Decker family of Chubbuck put up a mailbox for Santa.

This is the third year they have put up the mailbox so they can receive letters for Santa. In 2023, they received around 400 letters from southeast Idaho to northern Utah. They hope to receive more letters this year.

Wayne and Sabrina Decker told KPVI why they put up the festive mailbox.

“We just wanted something that would be fun for kids and families, so we started it three years ago and it has grown since then. The second year we had 300 letters and last year we had 400 letters. We got letters from Utah, I think families, they have families up here for Thanksgiving and they get together and write letters, so we got quite a few from out of town.”

If you would like to stop by to drop a letter in the mailbox for Santa, stop by 4832 Wiltshire Street in Chubbuck.

If you want to get a letter back from Santa, include a return address on the letter.

Santa’s mailbox will remain open until Christmas Eve, but if you would like a reply you can drop off letters until December 18th.

You can also share your experience at Santa’s Mailbox by joining the Santa’s Mailbox Pocatello/Chubbuck Facebook group.
