Dear school district of Philadelphia families,

We are deeply sad about the tragic plane crash in the northeastern area of our city and expand our sincerely compassion for everyone affected. The Philadelphia school district would like to thank all emergency helpers who quickly take action after the crash.

I am writing with important information about tomorrow. The school will be resumed on Monday, February 3, 2025. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continues to investigate the fatal crash because they will collect debris. The licensing and inspection workers in Philadelphia are questioned in the immediate vicinity of the crash. In addition, the police in Philadelphia will guide traffic through road closures. We understand that this event has caused major disorders. Therefore, all students and employees who come too late due to accident -related road closures and delays are too late. Septa has identified alternative routes and diversions that can be found on their warning and advisory website.

Students and employees who saw the tragedy have been anxious and angry. In order to support the emotional needs and well -being of our students and employees, the Office for Prevention and Intervention will work with school consultants for students who may want to speak to someone. In addition, we encourage you to speak to your child (ren) so that it tells you all the feelings that it may experience in the coming days. If you believe that additional support is required, please contact your school’s main office and we will make sure that your child’s needs are properly directed. You can also call 1-833-phl-shop (1-833-745-4673) for free support and information or call text.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of the city of Philadelphia, while we work together to relax and rebuild ourselves. We thank you for your continued partnership. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s main office.

In partnership,

A message of support for district employees and families
