A New Caney man is accused of stalking his family’s car and threatening to stop them with a gun

NEW CANEY, Texas — A man is facing charges after he chased and threatened a family with a gun during a traffic accident in New Caney, according to Harris County Precinct 4 deputies.

The driver, identified as 55-year-old Jeffrey Haley, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On Monday, officers responded to a frantic call from a family driving north on Highway 59 near Porter, saying a driver of a black Dodge truck was driving aggressively and threatening them.

According to the victims, Haley yelled and swore at them, causing the family – a father, mother and young child – to fear for their lives. When the father responded to the suspect, the man reportedly pulled out a handgun and ordered them to stop. Fearing for their lives, the family slowed down and distanced themselves from the black Dodge truck.

One of the family members managed to record part of the incident on a cell phone, capturing not only Haley’s actions, but also his appearance, vehicle and license plate.

Officers quickly located Haley at his residence in New Caney. After an investigation, Haley was taken into custody and charged.
