A “person of interest” in the murder of the boy was faced with previous allegations

A youth football coach, of whom the police say, is a “person of interest” for the death of a 13-year-old boy in Los Angeles in custody and because of sexual attacks in a non-related incident, the authorities said.

Mario Edgardo Garcia Aquino, who trains football in Whitsell Park in North Hollywood, was arrested on Wednesday by the Los Angeles police department. On the same day, LAPD detectives, who worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, regained Oscar Omar Hernandez ‘body along a bleak section by Ventura County.

Detectives of the LAPD robberies of robbery murder division made the arrest, which is associated with a sexual assault from 2024 with another suspected victim.

Hernandez ‘family reported that the teenager was missing on Sunday, March 30, after not returning home when he visited Garcia Aquino in the man’s Lancaster Residence.

The teenager, who lived in Sun Valley, had taken the Antelope Valley the day before his missing train. When the boy’s brother tried to call him later that day, the coach replied to the boy’s cell phone and said the boy was busy and could not speak. According to the family and the investigator, Daniel Hernandez, the boy’s father, later called the coach and insisted that he broke the teenager near the family’s house.

The day after the missing boy, the investigators began to pursue the movements of the trainer and the boy after leaving his house in San Fernando Valley.

The authorities also found that Garcia Aquino had been examined by the sheriff department of the Sheriff of Los Angeles last year because they concern sexual assault.

When the investigators searched for the teenager last Wednesday, Garcia Aquino was charged with assault because he had confiscated rape in connection with an incident of February 22, 2024, in which he supposedly “explained a position of trust and trust in the inspection of the attack,” said the criminal register submitted in court. Garcia Aquino missed an indictment planned for Monday.

It is unclear why the district of the district in Los Angeles did not calculate him before.

Multiple Law Enfcorcement Sources, who said they were not entitled to speak publicly about the case, said that Garcia Aquino was an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador.
Garcia Aquino was also the subject of a LAPD examination of the sexual assault of a minor in 2022, but was never charged because the alleged victim leaned against him, according to several sources of the law enforcement authorities.

After the boy disappeared, the investigators who used data from mobile phone devices, cell phone turrets and other tracking systems stated that the suspect visited the Oxnard area near McGrath State Beach and the Santa Clara River, according to the law enforcement sources, which were not authorized to discuss the probe. A foot search by LAPD investigators and FBI agents led to the discovery of the boy’s body next to the North Harbor Boulevard north of the West Gonzales Road. The investigators did not state the cause of death.

On Thursday, the boy’s family held a vigil in which his body was discovered. “We had this person at home,” said his sister Alejandra Ktla about a translator. “He even helped us to look for Oscar.”

Gladys Bautista, the boy’s mother, wore a football jersey and said her son “didn’t have to be treated like an animal. That was my son,” she said in Spanish.
