The New York Yankees Manager Aaron Boone saw Juan Soto for the first time since the signing that shook the baseball world, and he had a carefree roasting that was prepared for his former star.
Soto left the Yankees in the off -season to contest the rival New York Mets from the city 765 million US dollars contract. The Yankees tried to keep Soto in pinstripes after helping them make it to World Series last season, but nobody would reduce this kind of money.
On Monday, the two teams crossed the paths in spring for the first time, and Boone and Soto were able to meet Pregame. Obviously there were no hard feelings between the two and their interaction was carefree and friendly.
But that does not mean that the conversation was not without a playful bumps from Boone. Obviously, he said that the blue and orange threads do not fit the superstar at all.
“I told him that he looked terribly in this uniform,” said Boone with a laugh.
Apart from all jokes, the manager had very good words for the Dominican superstar, although he plays for a rival.
“Nice to see him,” said Boone. “Obviously, Juan was great for us, but just as important that he was a great guy in our room, a great guy in our clubhouse. To be honest, it was really good to see him.”
He didn’t joke that Soto was great. Last yearHe met .288 with 41 Homeruns and 109 runs. The Yankees will definitely not be the same in the line -up.
However, the Mets will be favorites to win the NL Pennant. Well, if they were not in the same league as the Los Angeles Dodgers.
