ABC’s Martha Raddatz says Trump “clearly had an influence” on the ceasefire agreement

ABC News host Martha Raddatz joined the co-hosts of “The View” on Thursday and said that President-elect Trump’s team “clearly had an influence” on the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

“Well, there are certainly hostage families on the streets in Tel Aviv who say it was Donald Trump who helped pull this off and they worked hand in hand. You have to give the Biden administration credit for everything they’ve done.” “That hasn’t happened yet,” Raddatz said when asked about Trump’s role by co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin.

“But you heard President-elect Trump say that if the hostages weren’t released, if there wasn’t a ceasefire agreement before he took office, there would be hell to pay. We don’t know about that, but the cooperation of these two governments really seemed to make a difference saying, ‘Is this a joke, do you think?’ I think Donald Trump bears full responsibility for this?’ But they clearly had some impact,” she added.

President Biden, who touted the ceasefire agreement in a speech Wednesday, also rejected a question from Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich about whether Trump deserves credit for the deal.

Biden referenced the ceasefire agreement in his farewell speech on Wednesday.

“My fellow Americans, I speak to you tonight from the Oval Office. Before I begin, I would like to address important news from today. After eight months of continuous negotiations, my administration – through my administration – has reached a ceasefire and… “A hostage agreement has been negotiated between Israel and Hamas, the elements of which I detailed in May of this year,” Biden said in his inaugural address.

Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire agreement on Wednesday that also secured the release of hostages. A recent meeting between Trump’s new Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly played a crucial role in the deal, sources told Fox News Digital.

Netanyahu has accused Hamas of reneging on the deal because of new demands and has indefinitely postponed a cabinet vote on the deal.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday he expects the deal between Israel and Hamas to take effect on Sunday.

“I think this week was another reminder of both the power and purpose of American leadership and American diplomacy. Through 15 months of the devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas, we have worked to broker a deal that would bring hostages home and put an end to it.” “The fighting would increase humanitarian assistance to people who desperately need it and create the space to conclude a permanent ceasefire,” Blinken said.
