AC/DC books Ford Field concert as Power Up stadium tour arrives in the US

The Australian rock band AC/DC performs on May 17, 2024 during their Power Up Tour 2024 at the VELTINS Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

A revitalized AC/DC will play its first Detroit show in a decade when the band performs at Ford Field on April 30 as part of the global Power Up Tour.

Tickets for the Ford Field date and other tour stops will be available at noon Friday through Ticketmaster.

The 13-city stadium tour, which begins April 10 in Minneapolis, follows the rock band’s string of high-powered European dates earlier this year.

Singer Brian Johnson, who left the group in 2016 due to a hearing problem, is back on board along with guitarists Angus Young and Stevie Young. Instead of Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams, tour members Matt Laug (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass) now complete the line-up.

AC/DC last played Ford Field in 2015 as part of their Rock or Bust World Tour. A year later, with Johnson now on the sidelines, the band entered the Palace of Auburn Hills, with Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses taking over vocals.
