According to reports, the cowboys are interested in one place as a former Patriots trainer

The Dallas Cowboys are a little more patient in the search for their next head coach than the New England Patriots.

While Robert Kraft Mike Vrabel appointed Jerod Mayo as a coach exactly one week after leaving the first year, Jerry Jones is looking for a replacement for Mike McCarthy for almost two weeks.

According to Nick Harris from the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Jones reported reported to the former coach of the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, Pete Carroll.

“The conversation was described as informally, although the interest is legitimate enough to be reported,” wrote Harris. “As of Thursday afternoon, there are no fixed plans for a formal interview.”

Carroll could have an advantage in the vacant area because the Super Bowl XLVIII champion has connections to the cowboys organization. The current offensive coordinator of Dallas, Brian Schottenheimer, belonged to Carroll’s staff in Seattle, and Mike Solari, offensive trainer of the cowboys, held the same position for the Seahawks under Carroll.

The story is continued under the advertising

Jones began his search for McCarthys replacement with a conversation with Colorado coach Deion Sanders, which has not come about since then. Seattle’s assistant, Leslie Frazier, the former coach of New York Jets, Robert Saleh, and Schottenheimer are the only personal interviews that Jones led. Kellen Moore, offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, had a virtual interview because his team is still in the playoffs.

Carroll has 18 seasonal experience as an NFL head coach. In New England he led the Patriots to a record of 27-21 in three seasons. The Patriots made it into the playoffs in his first two seasons, but after he missed the playoffs in 1999, Kraft dismissed Carroll and hired Bill Belichick as his successor.
