Aimee Lou Wood at Chelsea & Ricks ‘White Lotus’ deaths

Spoilers follow for The white lotus Season three final “Amor Fati. “”

During the standard White lotus The guest seems to run away from something – fear, the pressure of fame, the financial ruin of Aimee Lou Woods Chelsea seems clearly satisfied. A committed creditor of astrology and the power of self -help books, the security of the hopeful romance in her relationship enables her to move through the season with a quiet conviction, while the other characters are through their search for the wisdom that seems to have.

Chelsea is so certain that it leads to death in the seasonal “Amor Fati” in the season. This purpose comes in the form of Walton Goggins’ Rick, who is burdened by a life of trauma and a stubborn certainty that revenge is his only way to peace. Chelsea’s optimism in view of his suffering is part of what makes it so lovable, and for a moment in the final she seems to have been right all the time. Ultimately, Chelsea’s commitment to Rick and her hope for his peace are not too Rick’s pain, and his impulses ignite a shooting chamber that Chelsea catches in the middle. Wood argues that her story could not have ended any other way. “Everyone wants to save Chelsea and I understand because it is so lovable and childish and curious and lovable,” says Wood. “But she could only have saved herself.”

How are you doing?
It really feels like I would have to mourn. It has taken up such a large part of our lives and I think we all learn how to hold everything. We all watched on Sunday evening and I saw Patrick’s hand to keep my and Charlotte, and we sob. Patrick said: “I don’t know how we are being expected to speak in a panel right now.” The love we all have for each other … it feels like it is the end of an era that is emotional enough. No matter what happens in the bloody story.

They mourn both the characters and the experience of everything.
Exactly! And I am full Grief because she dies! It is so overwhelming. Thank God I don’t go back to film something. I’ll take a break. I think I just have to process it.

How early did you know that Chelsea would die?
I knew before I was officially given the part. The scenes for my first audition were those in which Chelsea said: “Rick, you have to get a facial treatment” and then the one in which she says: “Scorpion. So mysterious.” Then I made the scene in which they are sitting in the restaurant for my recall and she says: “I think we’ll be together forever, isn’t it?” And he says: “This is the plan.” I didn’t have the rest of the script, I had no context, but I knew in my stomach. I was so angry. I was so emotional that Mike knew that I knew.

How did that affect how she approached her, especially in the scenes in which she makes so much premonition?
I have successfully divided a species. I was like I don’t have to know because Chelsea doesn’t know. I have to forget. It’s actually easy to do when you play Chelsea because she is so present.

Who do you see Chelsea as outside of Rick and outside the relationship that ultimately kills it?
It has massive addictive properties and it is impulsive and it is very self -destructive. She has such a strong unconscious drive and cannot save herself. It is clever how Mike created this very complicated character because her spirituality and all the stuff falls out of the fragrance. Your words are your armor. She has so many mottos, so many mantras, so many things that you can say about the zodiac. But at that moment when she was shot and she cannot speak and she is silent for the first time, she has nothing to say. Rick sees her full because her armor is gone. He looks at her and he realizes how much he loves her.

People always say: “Someone should have done something. Someone should have stopped” what we say about all these tragic heroines. I am annoyed when they are deleted as a victim. They were very strong, stubborn women. And this is Chelsea – she is very, very persistent, if she had channeled her persistence in a different direction, she could have taken over the world.

When did you actually turn Chelsea’s death? How did you prepare yourself
We knew it came for a while and it was a little bit about filming. I tried not to think about it. Walton could somehow think about it because Rick’s death drive is so strong anyway. He made his pain into his God so that he could sit in the dark as I am not allowed because Chelsea is not so. Chelsea made the relationship with her God. She suppresses and denies. And so I had to suppress and deny as Aimee, which then meant that it came out sideways. For the two weeks before we filmed death, I wrote my friends when I look so old. It was somehow crazy. I sent her pictures and I went: “Do my eyes look different? Why am I 30 years old since I left?” And thank God, my friend, who trains to be a therapist, said, “Do you think you could film any fit?” I also got this obsession from Amy Winehouse. I was already obsessed with her and was always, but it became chronic. I just wanted to listen to her. And of course it was like because Chelsea is a love -dependent. It has an addictive relationship and they are both self -destructive.

How specific was choreography for this scene?
It was so complicated. It took a long time and it was damn hot. It was the hottest day of the entire shoot. And it really felt that it was the hottest day of shooting because Rick had to wear Chelsea. He had to do the most work after wearing her all the time. Walton had to wear me over and over again. The crew laughed. At first they were worried that I would be afraid. The stunt coordinator said: “It will take a lot of trust because Walton controls the whole thing.” It will occur. He will fall with both of us. This chick (points to yourself)))Present I thought zen. As soon as he picked me up, I was completely floppy. I felt so cold. And people laughed because it was just like Chelsea to think I’ll be okay. Yes, I am not hurt. I’m not afraid. I just trusted that Walton would take care of me and he did it.

How did you rehearse the fall into the water?
There were two really exhausting days. We made this first sequence and fell on a mat for this piece, and then we filmed the water material in a water tank. We spent the whole day in this water tank and it was hard work. They gave me the opportunity to say: “Stunties can do that. It is Rick’s face, so it has to be Walton in the water. But Aimee -” and I said: “No, I want to do it.” So I did it. I had to keep my breath for so long, and there would only be points on which I would turn so that we had to cut, or Walton would turn around the other direction and we had to cut again. It took the whole day and it was hard work, but it felt like we had to go together. I can’t have Walton with a stunt woman in the water.

Fabian fell into the water during this scene. Was that an accident or was that rehearsed?
That was rehearsed, but Christ is the best actor. He is one of one million and it really looked like he had fallen in an accident. The whole thing – it’s classic Mike. When Fabian falls and the ladies scream, it’s so funny. But the gasp when the camera turns and then Chelsea fucks blood on the floor. God, it’s Mike White, isn’t it?

What do you imagine, Chelsea was when she died?
I think she doesn’t feel lonely at that moment. She feels connected to everything. If addiction is the opposite of connection, then everything is connected to you at this moment. In a really shitty way she has proven to be so victorious because she said: “Bad things happen in three. I will follow them in the next life. If something bad happens to them, Rick, it happens to me. We are Yin and Yang.” All of this, and she has proven it properly for everyone. She sees everything.

Was there a moment when you almost gave away the secret?
There was once when I gave away the secret and it was a complete accident. My best friend, who is also my roommate, wanted to use our washing machine, and there were some stills that I forgot to put away. I had looked at and cried these silence because I and Walton were, and Rick ended Chelsea and Chelsea. So I come in and he says: “Aimee, you do damn it? Oh my god.” God bless him, he held that. He was with me last night at the demonstration and he knew it would come, but he said he still didn’t think it would happen. And I think everyone felt like this. There are so many indications that it is Chelsea, but people didn’t want to believe it.

Were there scenes that they shot for Chelsea who were cut from the season?
Yes, there was. Pretty much all the stuff from Chelsea and Saxon stayed in, but there was a scene that I and Walton loved by Rick and Chelsea. After Chelsea had driven to Rick on the beach, there would be a scene in which she goes into the room with Rick, and she says: “Did you do something bad? I have to know.” And he says: “I didn’t do it.” And she knows it is true and she is freed. And she says: “It’s my Saturn return this year, so it will either be my worst year or my best year, but I have the feeling that it will be the best.” And Rick says: “Yes, me too.” And then he takes it off and puts them on the bed and they kiss and it is a nice scene. But as soon as you have dinner, this is your nirvana moment. If she has it twice, it just won’t hit it so hard. I understood why it was taken away, but it was a beautiful scene. It’s actually in the trailer. I would love it if Mike releases the deleted scenes. There are so many deleted scenes!
