Akshay Bhatia retires, Garrick Higgo is now there

  • Akshay Bhatia withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open after playing in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
  • Bhatia’s withdrawal brings the total number of players who have withdrawn from the tournament to five.
  • Garrick Higgo will replace Bhatia in the 156-man field.
  • Higgo withdrew from the Korn Ferry Tour’s Bahamas Great Abaco Classic to compete in the Farmers Insurance Open.

Add another name to the list of subtractions from the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open.

Akshay Bhatia on Monday pulled out of the event, which was scheduled to begin on Wednesday at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Bhatia finished 32nd at the season opener The Sentry in Kapalua and was in the United Arab Emirates at the weekend where he finished 37th at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. He said attending the event is on his bucket list.

His place in the Farmers’ 156-man field goes to fellow left winger Garrick Higgo. Here’s a look at the Farmers WDs so far:
