Alabama A&M is parting ways with its head football coach

Alabama A&M has announced a “leadership change” at the top of its football program. On Monday, athletics director Dr. Paul A. Bryant announced that Connell Maynor, the university’s head football coach, has been relieved of his duties “effective immediately” “We would like to thank Connell Maynor for his seven seasons at Alabama A&M University,” Bryant said. “We wish him all the best in all his future endeavors.”>> WVTM 13 ON THE GO: Download our app for free Maynor took the helm of A&M’s football program in 2018 and compiled an overall record of 29-20 during his time in Huntsville. The Bulldogs finished the 2024 season ranked No. 4 in the SWAC East with a 6-6 record that included a second straight loss in the Magic City Classic. Maynor’s departure from the program comes shortly after the death of A&M linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr., who died as a result of a head injury sustained during the rivalry game. A nationwide search for Maynor’s replacement has already begun.
