The No. 9 Crimson Tide (6-1) will face the undefeated Dana Altman and the Ducks (7-0) in the final game of the first-ever and inaugural Players Era Festival tournament.

How Alabama basketball came to the Players Era Festival championship

Alabama basketball defeated Houston 85-80 in overtime on Tuesday. Against Rutgers on Wednesday, it looked like a rigorous daily schedule of media events combined with both teams’ overtime minutes the night before could have spelled another dent in Alabama’s record, but Alabama beat center Clifford Omoruyi’s former Scarlet Knights, 95-90 to secure his place in the championship.

The competing teams were ranked first through fourth after Wednesday’s competition, with head-to-head records taking precedence in the seeding list. The next factor was total point differential (maximum 20 points per game), followed by total points scored and fewest points allowed.

Outlook: No. 9 Crimson Tide faces undefeated Oregon Basketball

Oregon isn’t in the top 25 of the major rankings, but the Ducks are ranked No. 24 in the KenPom ratings as of Friday afternoon.

While the Big Ten team ranks 37th in defensive efficiency – 10 spots ahead of UA – and ranks 23rd nationally in offense in KenPom, Oregon’s strength in schedule (126th) is probably not attributable to a team with the speed and Size prepared by UA. Meanwhile, Alabama has struggled through a schedule that ranks 14th among NCAA Division I programs.

UC-Riverside, Montana, Portland, Troy and Oregon State fell to Oregon before the teams landed in Las Vegas this week. No. 20 Texas A&M picked up Oregon’s first win over a ranked opponent this season, followed by a solid 78-68 win over San Diego State on Wednesday.
