Alabama Congressman Calls Hunter’s Pardon and Biden’s Promise ‘Just More Lies’

Alabama politicians quickly took to social media Sunday night to call out President Joe Biden for pardoning his son Hunter, despite previously promising not to do so.

The president said Sunday that he would resolve years of legal problems and a federal conviction for illegal gun purchases and tax evasion.

In June, Biden said he would neither pardon nor commute his son’s sentence on federal weapons charges.

“I said I would abide by the jury’s decision,” he said. “I will do that.”

“President Biden said he would not pardon his son. But I think we all knew he would do it eventually. And we were right,” Rep. Robert Aderholt, who represents parts of north Alabama, wrote on X.

Rep. Dale Strong wrote: “It is no surprise that Biden would pardon his son Hunter. The Biden family, the Democratic Party, and the deep state have never played by the same rules as the rest of America. “Once again, Biden’s repeated promises not to pardon his son were just more lies to the American people” in response to the younger Biden’s pardon.

Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth also spoke.

“Biden promised he wouldn’t pardon his son Hunter for tax evasion and gun crimes related to his crack cocaine addiction, but he just did it. He turns his Justice Department against Trump with deceptive legal policies, but prevents Hunter from facing his crimes. “It’s time to send Ol’ Joe packing and drain the swamp,” he wrote.

In a statement, Joe Biden wrote: “No reasonable person looking at the facts of Hunter’s cases could come to any conclusion other than that Hunter was singled out simply because he is my son – and that is wrong.”

Hunter issued his own statement.

“I acknowledged and took responsibility for my mistakes in the darkest days of my addiction – mistakes that were exploited to publicly humiliate and shame me and my family for political sport,” he said. “I will never take for granted the grace given to me today and will dedicate the life I have rebuilt to helping those who are still sick and suffering.”
